In the last two years, I’ve come to understand more and more why many people say golf is an “addictive” sport.
When I first started, I didn’t think much of it. I just felt that golf was quieter than most sports, without the intense competition, and it had a relaxing feel to it. Especially as work got busier, I began to cherish this sport that allowed me to slow down.
But after I started playing seriously, I realized that what’s most captivating about golf isn’t just the swing itself, but the process of constantly adjusting, upgrading, and striving for a more consistent performance. This includes your swing, rhythm, mindset, and even your equipment. Before, I always thought that as long as the equipment was decent, it was fine. But after playing more frequently, I realized that the difference in experience between different equipment is actually very significant. Sometimes it’s not that your technique suddenly improves, but that the equipment makes it easier to get into the zone.
Recently, I’ve purchased several pieces of golf equipment from Carl’s Golfland. My biggest takeaway after using them is: once you’ve experienced equipment that truly suits you, it’s really hard to settle for anything less. Next, I’d like to share four pieces of golf equipment that have recently significantly improved my experience.
Mizuno JPX925 Forged Irons | My First Real Sense of the Difference in “Feel”
This Mizuno JPX925 Forged Irons set from Carl’s Golfland is my most satisfying recent equipment upgrade.
Actually, I never quite understood why so many people are so obsessed with the “feel” of their irons. It wasn’t until I actually played with a good set of forged irons that I suddenly realized the difference in feedback. What attracts me most about the JPX925 is that it has the refined feel of forged irons on impact, yet it’s not particularly difficult to control.
I used to have this impression of forged irons: skilled players would love them, but they might not be as friendly to the average golfer. But this set completely changed my mind. Especially with Mizuno’s signature Grain Flow Forged HD forging process, the feel at impact is incredibly solid. The feedback of the ball “bouncing” off the clubface is very clean.
What surprised me most about it is its forgiveness. Before, even a slight deviation from the sweet spot would cause significant drops in distance and direction. But the JPX925’s CORTECH design truly enhances the stability of the entire clubface. Once, I clearly felt I hadn’t hit solidly, but the ball speed and distance were still quite good. That moment was incredibly reassuring. The transition between long and short irons is also exceptionally smooth.
The speed of the 4-7 irons is very noticeable, resulting in crisp shots; while with the short irons, the feel becomes more refined and easier to control the landing point. This consistency is crucial. Because often, the true hallmark of a high-quality iron set isn’t just a single exceptionally strong iron, but rather the smoothness of the entire set. Lately, I’ve increasingly enjoyed using it for approach shots, especially mid-range attacks. The ball trajectory feels noticeably more consistent, and the psychological pressure is much less. Now I finally understand why so many golfers get so excited when talking about Mizuno. That feel is truly exhilarating.
Titleist Pro V1 AIM Performance Red, White, & Blue | The Golf Ball That Truly Affects Your Performance
I used to be quite casual about golf balls. I always thought they were all pretty much the same, right? But then I discovered that when you start playing seriously, your feel for the ball really does directly impact your performance. Recently, I’ve been particularly fond of Carl’s Golfland’s Titleist Pro V1 AIM Performance Red, White, & Blue 2026.

What initially attracted me was its design. The special number 1776, along with the red, white, and blue Stars and Stripes alignment markings, gives it a very distinctive American classic feel. But after actually playing it on the course, I realized it’s not just about looks. The Pro V1’s shot consistency is incredibly refined. Especially on the tee shot, the low spin provides a particularly noticeable penetration. The ball’s flight is very stable, and its roll after landing is excellent.
But what I like most is its performance in the short game. Especially on chip shots and around the green, the backspin is noticeably easier to control. This feeling is actually quite subtle. Previously, many times, even when my line was fine, my ball stopping was always a little off. After switching to the Pro V1, I feel my distance control has become much more precise. And its alignment markers are incredibly useful. I used to feel my stance was unstable when putting, but the Stars and Stripes alignment design makes it much more visually comfortable.
Sometimes golf is really strange. Even the smallest changes can affect your entire game. What I like most about the Carl’s Golfland is that it gives you confidence as you play.
Nike Victory Tour 4 Golf Shoes | Realizing the Importance of Golf Shoes for the First Time
Recently, I’ve discovered that a truly good pair of golf shoes has a huge impact on swing stability. The Nike Victory Tour 4 is the pair I’ve been using the most lately. Its biggest feature is its excellent balance between stability and comfort. Many golf shoes, while stable, become very stiff after prolonged wear, especially after 18 consecutive holes, causing foot fatigue. But this pair is completely different. Its Flyplate carbon fiber structure is truly fascinating. It feels soft when walking, but provides noticeable support during the swing.
The first time I wore them on the course, my biggest impression was how much more stable I felt. Especially during the drive, I felt incredibly secure. The grip is truly excellent. Once, I played on wet grass and was worried about slipping, but I didn’t slip at all. That stability directly impacts my confidence during the swing.
Furthermore, its comfort is similar to that of athletic shoes. Many golf shoes used to have a “formal” feel, but the Victory Tour 4 feels surprisingly comfortable. Now I increasingly feel that what’s truly important in golf gear isn’t just performance data, but whether it makes you want to stay on the course. And these shoes are the kind that make you want to wear them for the entire course.
Adidas Women’s Ultimate365 Tour Pleated Golf Skort | Finally Found Truly Comfortable Golf Attire
I’m increasingly realizing that golf is also a lifestyle. Before, I thought that course attire was just about “meeting the rules.” But after I started playing golf seriously, I realized that a comfortable outfit really impacts your entire game. Recently, I’ve been particularly fond of the adidas Women’s Ultimate365 Tour Pleated Golf Skort from Carl’s Golfland.
Its biggest advantage is its incredible freedom of movement. Many golf skirts, while beautiful, can feel restrictive while playing, especially when turning or crouching to see the lines. This one, however, is completely different. It has built-in shorts, so you feel incredibly comfortable moving around. Plus, the fabric is very stretchy. Whether walking, swinging, or putting, you won’t feel restricted.

I also love its pleated design. It’s not too sporty, nor too formal. It’s the kind of outfit that looks great on the course and is perfectly suitable for brunch. Now, I’m increasingly appreciating this kind of “invisible boundary between sport and everyday life” in my outfits. Because a truly comfortable lifestyle should naturally blend together. And this skort makes you look incredibly light and airy. Especially on a nice day, playing on the course is incredibly relaxing.
Upgrading your equipment truly changes the playing experience
I used to think that technique was the most important thing in golf. Later, I realized that while equipment can’t directly guarantee a good score, it definitely affects how you feel about the sport. Good equipment won’t instantly turn you into a pro, but it will make you more consistent, more comfortable, more willing to play, and more enjoyable throughout the game. And that’s what makes golf so captivating.
Many times, the right equipment can truly make you fall in love with playing golf again.
